Dates: 3/20, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15
30 minutes: Skill development, specific in nature
45 minutes: Scrimmage (with stop play, in order to teach during the heat of a game)
Examples of skills to be worked on: Ball handling (strong/off hand, crossovers), Proper shooting form, Free Throws, Low post moves, Catch & Shoot, Pick and Rolls
Our goal is to give the young player a chance to develop their skills and love for the game amongst their peers in a fun, disciplined & competitive environment.
1. We do not offer extended day. Campers are allowed to arrive 15 minutes before camp for check in and should be picked up promptly at 2:30PM. 2. Camper to staff ratio is 10/1. 3. All staff members receive criminal background checks. 4. This camp does provide competition where awards are earned. Every camper does not receive a trophy / prize 5. Campers are divided by age and ability 6. Co-ed camps: Yes in some cases girls are competing against boys 7. Lunch is not provided, although concessions may be offered depending on the location. 8. We do not offer refunds for cancellations; credits are issued for future use. 9. Walter McCarty is present for at least 50% of the camp when ASA is hosting a McCarty camp event.
The MacKenzie Centre is located next door to the Sacred Heart Church in Newton Centre on Centre Street.
From 128 we recommend exiting on Route 9 east and then exiting on Centre Street and proceeding north toward Newton Centre. The MacKenzie Center is on you left opposite Holly Cleaners and a large professional office building.
From the Mass Turnpike, use exit 17. Turn on to Centre Street (at Eaton Apothecary). Proceed South on Centre Street through Newton Center. The MacKenzie Center is on your right adjacent to the Sacred Heart Church (approximately 1.5 miles).
5 Minutes: Form Shooting
5-10 Minutes: Dribbling
5 Minutes: Partner passing
5 Minutes: Defensive footwork
10 Minutes: Offensive & Defensive
5-10 Minutes: Shooting Drills
5 Minutes: Full court timed lay ups
Conclusion: Plus / Minus free throw shooting for sprints
